How to use the root calculator

Enter the radicand (the number under the root) and the root degree. Square root is degree 2, cube root is 3, and so on.

Formula & explanation

ⁿ√x = x^(1/n). For negative radicands with odd n, the real root is −|x|^(1/n).

Examples

²√64 = 8. ³√64 = 4. ⁴√16 = 2. ³√−27 = −3.
